FAREWELL AT PALMERSTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. (| Palmcrston North, May 21. J' His Excellency the Governor paid a farewell visit to Palmerston this alter-, noon. He was met at the railway sta-' tion and driven to The Square, where he ( delivered a brief farewell address. He * referred in a kindly spirit to his resi- ■ deuce here and the interest lie felt in the town and its aims and aspirations. His Excellency was then presented , with an address on behalf of the resi- ' dents of the town, the Mayor also delivering a short address. Ineluded among those present were Mr. Buddo and Mr. Justice Cooper. His Excellency left at 7.37 p.m. for Feilding. LORD PLUNKET'S FAREWELLS. Wftnganui, Last Night. The Governor is paying a farewell visit to Wanganui. He arrived by special train yesterday afternoon. In the evening a welt .Attended public meeting was held, when His Excellency was presented with a gold fountain pen to commemorate the : part he has played in signing Various . proclamations and deeds connects with j Wanganui municipal history. To-day the Governor was taken for a motor trip. He leaves in the morning. FAREWELL TO NEW PLYMOUTH. ENTERTAINED BY THE CITIZENS. His Excellency Lord Plunket, who is now making a curtailed round of farewell visits to the various of the Dominion, will arrive in New Plymouth this evening by the 5.15 train, and will he met at the railway station by His Worship the Mayor and councillors. At 8 o'clock he will attend a reception in the Theatre Royal, where the musical portion of the programme will be given by the New Plymouth Liedertafel. Arrangements have been completed for a function worthy of the occasion. As 1 (planned for the date originally fixed for the visit, the programme was of a fuller and more elaborate nature, ; but owing to the death of King Edward " and to the unsatisfactory state of Lord ' Plunket's health, much'has been can- " celled.
