Smith and M'jxmii. .Major M.iloiic has been promoted to the rank oi Liciit.-Colonel and will take command of the 4t.h Wellington Battalion (Taranaki) Territorials in succession to Lifut.-t'ol. Okcy, wJw Iras been traii-t'erred to the unattached list. The Department of Agriculture has decided on the following changes in tbe dairy division: J. Johnston, grader in chareg of New Plymouth, goes to Auckland; S. Ilownian, Canterbury, goes to Xew Plymouth; v. A. TJiornl.oi), Auckland, takes'char, ■ of grading in the Canterbury district •Mr. 11. W. Jennings, who leaves shortly to take up an appointment i n London, was entertained last night at a social in the Brougham Street. Hall, when there was a large attendance of hi« friends. His Worship the Mayor, Mr. G. Tisch, presided, and, on behalf of the assemblage wished Mr. Jennings " bon voyage."
