I Mr. F. W. Court sailed from Wellington yesterday by the, Athenie for London, to exploit tiiie silent cistern invented by Messiv. Smith and M'jxmii. .Major M.iloiic has been promoted to the rank oi Liciit.-Colonel and will take command of the 4t.h Wellington Battalion (Taranaki) Territorials in succession to Lifut.-t'ol. Okcy, wJw Iras been traii-t'erred to the unattached list. The Department of Agriculture has decided on the following changes in tbe dairy division: J. Johnston, grader in chareg of New Plymouth, goes to Auckland; S. Ilownian, Canterbury, goes to Xew Plymouth; v. A. TJiornl.oi), Auckland, takes'char, ■ of grading in the Canterbury district •Mr. 11. W. Jennings, who leaves shortly to take up an appointment i n London, was entertained last night at a social in the Brougham Street. Hall, when there was a large attendance of hi« friends. His Worship the Mayor, Mr. G. Tisch, presided, and, on behalf of the assemblage wished Mr. Jennings " bon voyage."
