TARANAKI PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE. CONCLUSION OF BUSINESS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Eithani, Last Night. The Tfciranaki Provincial Conference concluded this afternoon. Remit: "That the whole of the Union •branches throughout the Dominion 'be formed into a systematic land estate agency."—This was referred to the Dominion Conference for serious consideration. Motion: "That the Minister ibe urged to 'have qualified veterinary surgeons appointed las stock inspectors, 'the owners of stock paying a reasonable fee when I vets.' services are professionally called in."—Carried with some dissent. Remit: "That Native lands should be rated the same ias European land. — Oairried without discussion, as also was an amendment to the Crown Suits Act. ' A motion urging more liberal treat- | men>t by the Government in extending telephone communication was declared carried, though an amendment recognising the good work done by the Government found considerable support. It was agreed that branches be urged to carry out mauurial experiments. It was resolved: That steps be taken to prevent the sale of unsound bulls and cows for breeding purposes. I That iwihere there is more than one applicant far a section of Crown land it might lie sunmitted to competition, so that those most in wan* of land have an opportunity of securing it and the owners (the public) let it at market value. That a prize be offered for the best article on the Farmers' Union, its achievements, standing, and .prospect*. That the Government should pass legislation to secure purity of seeds. That more regular and systematic inspection of dairy herds be carried out. That candidates at Parliamentary elections and sitting memhers be asked to assist to have the optional system made applicable in every case to all Crown lands and lands for settlement lands. That all dairy companies be recommended to instal "pasteurising plants for •the purple of stamping out disease in cattle and pigs. That the Minister of F.duciatkm be urged to reinstate igrants to school committees on 'the old tesis. A resolution was .passed in favor of nursing the construction of the Opivnake railway, hut, being only local, the matter will nfct he passed on to the Dominion Conference.
