THE BOY SCOUTS, By Telegraph—Press Association. Feilding, Tuesday. In view of the defence regulations that Boy Scouts attending secondary schools are compelled; to attend official parades as junior cad'ets, irrespective of age, the Feilding Scoutmasters' Executive is asking for an amendment permitting them to remain Scouts at all times between the ages of 14 anu 18 years, otherwise the Boy Scout movement will be severely handicapped. POST OFFICE BROKEN INTO. Auckland, Tuesday. DivriiMr Sunday ninlht the Papatoetoe 'Post Office was visited by burglars, who freely used la crowbar to effect an entrance to the office, which was found next morning in general disorder, the safe being in the middle of the floor. The burglars evidently fired two shots. Two lots of fuse remained on the floor, and mud and putty were spattered all over the room. The burglars were evidently disturbed, for they also left gloves behind. Though the keys will not unlock the safe, it is believed the contents are not disturbed. OHINEMURI SILTING COMMISSION. Auckland, Tuesday. The Ohinemuri Silting Commission met thi9 morning, wlhen counsel asked for an adjournment. The chairman, Mr. Ferguson, stated rtihat the Commission would adjourn until to-morrow. In the meantime the Commissioners would decide what course to take. There was no question that the Commission would go to Paeroa. BARQUE'S PERILOUS EXPERIENCES Wellington, Tuesday. The barque Marjory Glen arrived here firom Liverpool to-day, 156 days out. During the greater part of the voyn«o the vessel was assailed by terrific gp'es and mountainous seas, and as a result of the straining to which she was subjected a number of bolts were started, causing the forehold to leak. Twice she was thrown on her beam ends, while the decks were flooded for weeks on end. A number of sails w<ere torn to shreds. Several men are ill. Various stages of murine growths on the deck give evidence of prolonged immersion. TELEPHONE CHARGES. Wellington, Last Night. The Postmaster-General has decided that in lieu of rendering accounts for telephone bureau transactions montniy, they will in future rendered weekly. Any person desiring to receive a daih' account may do so with extra charges, provided the account is paid daily.
