The ordinary monthly meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday; present —Messrs Francis Simpson (Commisuoner of Crown Lands), J. Heslop and J. McCluggage. TRANSFERS. Applications to transfer were dealt with, as under: — Hagenson and C. H. Scott to C. H. and K.' Scott, sec. 2 folk 3, Waro S.D.— Approved, subject to residence and other conditions being complied with forthwith. D. and J. Wright to John Wright, sec 6 blk 6, Waro.—Approved, subject to the ranger's report being favorable. Medealf and Wray to S. Medcalf, sees. 10 and 11 blk. 4, Ngatiniaru.—Approved, subject to ranger's report .being satisfactory. T. ~ I. Higgie to E. H. Slater, sees. I 1 and 5 blk !), Upper Waitara.—Approved. C. Houston to H. E. Johnson, sec. 100 blk 9, Waimate, and sec. 4 blk 9, Hawera.—Approved. F. Whitehead to G. F. Weitzel, sec. 90 b!k 4, Paritutu.—Approved. J. Hart, jun., to D. J. Cornwall (sec. 8 blk. 16, Pouatu) to convert their tenure to freehold. LEASES ISSUING. The following improved farm selectors applied for their leases to issue: D. Beaton, sec. 8 folk 13, Ohura; J. Pearce, sec. 26 blk 14, Ohura; W. W. Goodfellow, sec. 27 blk 13, Ohura; J. O'Brien, sec. 28 blk. 14, Ohura.—The leases will issue accordingly. APPEALS. A. E. E. Belcher appealed against the forfeiture, of sec. 5 blk 15, Waitara, and applied to transfer to Wm. F. Dowman.l —Resolved, that the resolution of for-' feiture be rescinded and that the trans-1 fer be agreed to, upon the understand-. ing that' the conditions of.personal resi-j dence are complied with forthwith. H. McLaughlan wrote explaining deft-, cient improvements on sec. 8 blk 3, Ohura, and asked that the transfer to T. Mackinder be reconsidered.—Resolved that under the exceptional circumstances the transfer be agreed to. SELECTORS IN ARREARS. A schedule was laid on the table of settlers in arrears with rent, who had been notified of intention to forfeit. — Resolved to inform those who have failed to pay their rents that the matter was before the Board, and that it was decided that if the amounts owing are not ipaid within one month their sections will be liable to forfeiture. j INSPECTION REPORTS. ■> E. Tolme, ranger, reported on the inspection of seven holdings. Two had not effected sufficient improvements, and one was not residing who was required to reside. j H. T. Twiss, ranger, reported on the' (inspection of 50 holdings. A schedule of selectors have not complied with the conditins was dtalt with as follows: Mrs. J. C. Harrie, sees. 6 and 7 folk. 11, Pouatu, deficient improvements; selector is making arrangements for felling fifty acres, etc. —Action suspended provided improvements are piut in hand by Ist June, and completed ifoy Ist Decemfoer next. tain thirds foe held over for .payment of interest on loans to foe raised for metalling, it was resolved that this Board could not entertain such a proposal until each of the sections concerned has reasonafole road access. MISCELLANEOUS. The Resident Engineer, Public Works Department, Stratford, applied on behalf of one of the Department's workmen to rent the cottage on sees. 43 and 46, Huiakama.—Acceded to. E. Mortensen wrote that he hoped to be settled on sec. 14 blk 14, Totoro, by the end of the month.—Accepted as satisfactory. E. A. Meredith, assistant ranger, reported that D. Mullins was resident on sec. 9 folk 2, Totoro, but could not take his wife on to the section until he had a house built and-the access improvedSatisfactory, j He also reported that thirty-one of the Tangitu improved farm settlers Had not yet arrived in the district. j J. McDonald renewed his application for part section 4 folk 16, Ohura. A letter was aJso received from the UnderSecretary for Lands stating that there was no reason why part of the sectioT should not be disposed of to the selector and the balance vested in the Wanganui River Trust.—Consideration deferred for the ranger's report. The Under-Secretary for Lands advised that the Boad is justified in issuing the lease of sec. 14 blk. 12, Aria, to Mrs. Box.—Lea'se to issue accordingly. W. J. Parsons applied to lease part of Clifton road, folk. 12, Mimi.—Resolved that the matter be left in the Commissioner's hands to arrange with the Clifton County Council! to re-open the road if necessary, H. T. Twiss, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on sees. I l —l2 folk. 99. Waitara West, and suggested that the upset rental foe increased to £4 10s .per annum.—The report was adopted, and the l land will be re-offered for lease for a term of seven years.
