Beef—Market active with good de- 1 an&nd;' stocks of New Zealand beef iir hand light; overage prices, hinds 4 3 / g d, fores 3%d. ' Butter.—Market steady, with better demand on account of lower prices; average prices choicest New Zealand to-day 107s, Danish 114s. Cheese. —Market unsettled; ft report has ibeen generally circulated that Canadian supplies will be large; average prices, New Zealand white 575, colored 565.
Hemip.—Market firmer, but irregu-j lar; average prices, New Zealand good fair on spot £23 ss, fair grade £24 ss, j fair current Manila £24 10s; forward shipment, 'New Zealand good fair £25, fair grade £ 24, fair current Manila £23 10s; output for week from Manila 21,000 hales.

MR. NEWTON KING'S REPORT. On Tuesday, May 10, I held my usual sale of above procluce. The catalogue comprised 25 bales and 00 sacks of wool, 2481 sheepskins, 404 calfskins, 26 casks and CO tins of tallow, 1412 hides, including aboiuit 600 from the freezing works, and the usual assortment of cowtails, horse-ihaiir, etc. The attendance was good and competition very animated, the buyers being keen ipr business at prices which were in advance of rates ruling at my last sale.
Wool. —Owing to the firmness of the London sales, I had spirited competition for the wool offering, which consisted chiefly of odd bales of rough heavy conditioned crossbred, and a few bales of lambs'. Prices for were firmer and all lines met witin a strong demand ,s.t an advance, of %d to y 2 d per 11) above late rates. The miirket lor hides was a strong' one and all lots met with excellent competition at an advance of y g d to per lb. Taliow sold well a.t late rates.
