FIRES.
A HOUSE DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. \Vanganui, Monday. A fire occurred at (.onville yesterday morning. A house owned by tihe Rev. E. Ward was destroyed. It was insured for £250, and tihe furniture for £IOO. BULK STORE PARTIALLY DESixiOYED.
Invercargill, Monday
A bulk store at the back of Smith 'and Laing's warehouse was partly destroyed by fire at half-past six this morning. Damiage to the value of £IOOO was done to the contents. The fire is supposed to have started in an ashbin on the adjoining property and spread to the building, which- was made of wood. The contents were insured for £2300, the following companies sharing the risks:—New Zealand, Victoria, and State £SOO each, South British £4OO, Commercial Union £2OO, and Standard £2OO. The building was insured in the Soutih British for £ 100, and in the Xew Zealand for £IOO.
