BOXHILL BANK AFFAIR.
THE BANKER'S NARROW ESCAPE. ROBBER'S TRAIL LOST. By-Cable —Press Association —I'opyrrght Melbourne, May 16. The robber obtained entrance to the residential portion of the Boxhill Bank by boring out a piece the back door. The only loot obtained Was four sovereigns and some silver taken from the pockets of Mr. Sutton's clothes. ilr. Sutton was close to the door when the intruder fired through the panel, the bullet narrowly missing him.
The bullet iired by Mr. Sutt.on was picked up in the Jiall in a flattened condition.
It is supposed from the bloodstains where the man blundered aibout seeking an exit always being on tile right side that he received a wound on the right'' arm. H« left behind a pair of cycling shoes and a stockingette mask. Stockinged footmarks led to where a bicycle had been mounted.
The bicycle was tracked through several streets and then lost.
The same bank was raided six years ago, when three masked men gagged and bound the teller, blew open the strong room, and got clear away with £I7OO.
