A sensation lias been caused in Paris over the prosecution of Madame Souer Gandide, a well-known member of tile Sisters of Charity and foundress of several hospitals. It i 9 alleged that Madame Candide obtained £BO,OOO in jewels from fifteen jewellers on .credit, which she sold to patrons of charities.
Madame Gandide refused i'.'- {til the Magistrate where tihe money was. She denied that she had .pawned the jewels, and stated t'iiafc tfle jewellers would be paid in diue course.
