FOOTBALL.

SATURDAY'S MATCHES. The attendance at the two local matches under the auspices of the Saturday Association on Saturday last was very small. The ground were very soft, and the same might ibe said of many of the. players. Under these circumstances the games were of a very mediocre description. Comment will appear in the Saturday notes. Warehouse played Rovers on the Recreation 'Sports Ground, and, mainly on account of a preponderance of avoirdupois, won by five points {a try by Hawkins, converted by Richards) to nil. Mr. Mulvey was the referee, and his rulings gave satisfaction. There was a tendency amongst some of the forwards to play the man instead of the ball, and far too much appealing and talk. There was more than five points between the teams, but for the fact that one of the Warehouse 'backs played very selfishly,] and many a good chance was lost. Teams representing the Civil Service and the Pirates met on the Racecourse Ground, and Service had a runaway win to the tune of 36 points to nil. Pirates only had eleven men, four of their best mea failing to put in an appearance. The following scored for Service: Tressider (2), Addison (2), Oopestake (2). Pfankuch (I),' Watson . (1), Kerr (1), Honeyfield (1). Honeyfield converted two tries, and Copestake oae.
