At a meeting of the Trust and Agency Company of Australasia, the chairman, Mr. F. A. Bevan, said the company had lent £200,000 in Argentina at an average rate of interest of iy 2 per centum.
A DEFENCE APPOINTMENT.

Colonel Wallace has been appointed to the supreme command' of the Royal Australian Artillery. HONORING SYDNEY'S MAYOR.

The Lord Mayor of Sydney declined the citizen's proposal to erect a statue to himself in recognition of his services to the city. His suggestion to name a city ward after him and endow a hospital cot was adopted. INCREASED COST OF BOOTS.
