A POLITICAL TRUCE
VETO RESOLUTIONS TO BE DELAYED. CIVIL LIST PROPOSALS. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, May 12. The Navy votes will be the first business in June, and. the other Estimates will follow. General satisfaction is expressed regarding Mr. Asquith's decision to appoint a Select Committee in June to prepare proposals for settlement of the Civil List. i The Times states that Ministerial cir-| cles recognise that it is necessary to pass the Budget for the current year. Probably the introduction of the veto resolution in the House of Lords will be delayed for a few weeks after the re-assembly of Parliament, if not for aj longer season. The Pall Mall Gazette says the "postponement and reassembling of Parlia-' tnent on June 8 is the first indication of the Government's recognition that public sentiment ' favors a political truce. The paper alleges that it has authority for stating that a movement towards compromise has (been made in the proper quarters by those whose moderation and detachment in the recent controversial debates qualify them to discuss a basis of settlement. i
