GEORGE WILLOUGHBY COMEDY CO.
| "THE NIGHT OF THE PARTY." Rupert Clarke and Clyde Meynell will I introduce to the public 'of New PlyI mouth this evening at the Theatre Royal Mr. George Willoughby's New English Farcical Comedy Company, who will stage a very funny comedy, ''The Night of the Party.'' It is a piece that rermires irreproachable acting to maintain the interest, and with doubt that irreproachablility is there, visible to the naked eye, likewise to the nude ear. The dialogue is smooth and. natural, rather than artificially brilliant, as has been the ease with so many modern farce-comedies. Foremost in continuous interest is David James, a comedian with an unctuous style, and a clean, wholesome Artistry which makes, his Crosbie character study a masterpiece of quiet and delicious corned} - , well entitled to rank with the 'previous best which set New Zealand bubbling with laughter. George "Wiilonghby, plump and pleasing, handles his lniTTer character with, nice juihiiueiit and unalloyed success; he has done nothing better. The melodrama adventuress, Gipsy Bandelier. is undertaken by Mn.b Paul, whose personal qualifications rank high. Miss Paul puts a lot of vim into the character. Mr. 1 Hugh C. Buckler appear' as Frank 1 Frnyne. It is particularly gratifying to get a smart young man in a new c»in--1 lunation of this character, who is not merely a beautiful fixture in a lot of i adorable clothes. Buckler is an excellent actor, vigorous, easy, rational and attractive. The other members of the company are all very clever. There is not the' slightest doubt that this clever' company will meet with strong support ' during their stay in New 1 Plymouth. I Popular prices are advertised. The box I plan is now on view at Collier and Co.'s. J To-morrow (Saturday) night a change 1 of programme will be made, when Lon- | don's great comedy, "What Happened to Jones,"' will be staged.
