THE FEDERAL MESSAGE. UNBOUNDED LOYALTY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, May 12. The message of the Federal Parliament to the new King pays tribute to King Edward, by whose death the British Empire lias lost a father and the whole civilised world had lost a friend and its greatest peacemaker. It refers to the coincidence that George was proclaimed King on the same date as he opened the first Commonwealth Parliament, and says it is trusted that this will prove a .happy augury for Australia. It gives an assurance of unbounded loyalty to .the Crown. LOCAL MEMORIAL SERVICE. With reference to holding a memorial service next Sunday, the Mayor (Mr. G. Tisch) has written the following letter to the chairman of the Ministers' Association:—"l have not yet received official notice as to the date of his late Majesty's funeral, but I recognise that preliminary arrangements will require to be made, and in order to give the members of the Ministers' Association as much time as possible to make the necessary arrangements, I suggest that a public memorial service be held' in the Recreation Grounds on the day of the funeral, and should the mother prove unsuitable then I suggest that the service be. held in the Drill Hall. I shall leave the making of the arrangements in the bands of the association. I hope to see a united service and full choir from all churches. On receipt of the official notice I shall again communicate with you; and shall be glad to give you every assistance."

The following motion was carried, the members standing, at Wednesday's meeting of the Employers' Association:— "That this meeting deeply regrets the sad death of our beloved Sovereign, places on record its sense of the great loss sustained by the Empire, and feelingly sympathises with our beloved Queen Alexandra- and the Royal Family- 2 '
