WAITARA NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. McConnell, conductor of the Waitara Municipal Band, and several other members of the band 'waited on the Borough Council at its last meeting with a view of isecuring a. suitable piece of land for the purpose of erecting a band rotunda. Mr. McConnell stated that it was the members' intention to form a working bee, and they would do the erecting of the rotunda themselves. He thought that the site where the old Library stood would make an ideal spot. The members of the Council were unanimous in granting the request. At all the churches on Sunday feeling reference was made to the death of the King. At the Wesleyan Church the Rev. F. W. Isitt conducted a memorial service, and took as his text the words, "The last enemy to be destroyed is Death. 3 ' ■His Excellency the Governor has cancelled his arrangements to visit Waitara, in consequence of the death of the King. On Saturday Mr. W. F. Jenkins, auctioneer, submitted the following Harbor Board sections for a. term of 21 years, with right of renewal for a further 21 years:—Sections 0, 10, 11, and 12, Messrs Borthwick and Sons, £4 10s; section 4, block 08, A. T. Lake, £8 10s; sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, block 104, H. Spurdle, £7 10s; block 2, Brooks terrace, £2 10s. W. Wilkes; block 3, Brooks terrace, £2 10s, W. P. Snell; 1 acre 1 rood 8 perches, Brooks terrace, W. P. Snell, £3; 1 acre 7 perches, Brooks terrace, Hi M. Lund, £2 15s; Mocks 6, 12, and 18, C acres, £2 10s, E. Coulter.
