' WABEA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The milk supply at the locaJ factory is increasing considerably. The cheese | factory will start to make butter after the 16th instant, -when the milk will be taken every other day. A number of the fanners are milking once a day already. To show the mildness of -the season, the cherry .plums are out in full blossom already. They should not be out for the next two or three months. The motor coach, which was blown over the embankment near Tapuae by the recent gale anil the top badly broken, has been repaired, and came out with' the mails on Friday evening. I understand the new car that is being built especially for the mail service between Xew Plymoutn and Opunake will arrive here shortly. ! Mrs. M. C. Barak has been appointed l head teacher at the local school. Miss Evans is about to retire from schoolteaching and to leave here, a circumstance which we all deplore. On Wednesday evening last a Catholic "social" was held in the local hall for the purpose of raising funds to help to pay for the priest's new motor-car. The night was wet and dirty, but notwithstanding there was a. large gathering. The proceedings were very enjoyable. The music was supplied by Miss M. Francis, Mrs. Harrison (of Pungarehu), and other local plaeyrs. At about midnight an enjoyable supper was handed round, and was very much appreciated.
