FARMERS' UNION ACTIVITY
PROPOSED FREEZING WORKS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Paimerston North, May 9. At a meeting of the Paimerston branch of the Farmers' Union, Mr. J, Balsillie Teferred ito the proposal to establish a freezing company on cooperative lines. Several prominent farmers had met and discussed the question, and it had ibeen decided to ask the various branches of the union in the Manawatu and Rangitikei districts to discuss the proposal and to send delegates to a general .meeting of representatives to be held at Paimerston North on June 1, when the proposal wiil he fully gone into. A motion in support of the proposal was carried. Mr. Bat sillie added that if the work was cafTied out, cold storage would 'be provided for dairy products, and the bacon industry would be worked in connectio* with the company for the export trade. Several remits were drawn up for the annual conference at Marton.
