FIRES.
NURSE'S NARROW ESCAPE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. A few minutes after 1 o'clock this' morning a fire was discovered in a wooden building of two storeys jti Upper Cuba Street, belonging to Mr. Coverdale, and occupied by J. J. Median, chemist, Perry, oculist, and Nurse Smith. The building was destroyed, together with the contents. The occupants had a narrow escape. Nurse Smith had to lie handed through the top storey window by Median, whose face was badly burned. He was also cut about the hands. The building was insured in the Sin Office for £BOO. Median and Perry had a. joint cover from the Guardian and United for £470, but Nurse Smith was not insured. If your property is not insured, call at or ring up the United Insurance Company.
