A special meeting of the directors of the Moa Dairy Company was held at Ir.glewood 'on Saturday; present: Messrs. D. Herlihy (chairman), Jones, Geo. Meuskfcy and Stachurski. The business was the consideration of the question of erecting a creamery at . Bristol Road, and also converting tlie Waitui Factory into a creamery. .Messrs. H. B. Curtis and JI. Hopson (Bristol 'Road), Williams and Bishop (Waitui) waited on the directors and stated that as the result of a meeting o r - the two districts it had been decided to interview the directors of the Moa Dairy Company on the question. List year the Waitui people had approached the Moa Dairy Company oni the same question and'been refused,! and naturally did not like approaching! a-gain; (but Mr. Curtis stated that the Bristol Road people had interviewed! Waitnti and asked them to join in with; Bristol Eoad. The two creameries could! work well in with each other, as the! one cart could carry cream from both.! The settlers were agitating for a bridge j over the Manganui river, and steps; were 'being taken to raise a loan for the purpose. The.bridge will not .be ready for next season, tout until it is t : lie| cream can easily be taken across tliej river on a wire rope, as the Waituii bank is 40ft, higher th&n the Bristol! Road bank. I
The chairman stated that lie thought! tl)(: Waitiii Company had made a very fair offer last year* and no other com-! .pany in Taranaki but the Moa Darrvj Company would have refused it. It was) ultimately resolved, on the motion ofl Mr. Mackie. "that it -be a reeommenda-l tion from the directors to an extraordinary meeting that a creamery lie erected on the Bristol Road, and the Waitm factory be converted into a creamery, provided that those interested purchase ore acre at the former place and three at Waitui, and that they take up share* t't an amount sufficient to erect and completely equip creameries at each place and provide horse, cart and harness; and that a joint and several >l>e signed, or other satisfactory arrangements be made with the bank."
This practically means that the new creameries are to be handed over tc the company at 710 cost to the .present suppliers,
The deputation thanked the directors and Rtated that tliev would call a meeting to consider the terms, and notifvj the directors at their ordinary meetiny 01: the lßth hist. ' 1
