Queen Alexandra bis returned to London, says a press table. Mr. F. Messenger, architect, invites tenders, to dose; -May 14, for the erection of a motor garage in Devon sheet. His Excellency the Governor is much better. He is improving slowly but steadily, says a Press wire from Palmerston. Mr. Frank Levy, representing -Messrs. Clarke and Meynell, is in town making arrangements for a season of the George Willoughby Company. A quiet wedding took .place at St. Mary's Church on Thursday afternoon, when Mr. .Somerset W. Smith, of the Public Trust Office, New Plymouth, was married to Miss Marian Alice Messenger, youngest daughter of Colonel Messenger, of New Plymouth. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J, Wilkinson.
At a meeting of the City Council last night (says an Jnvereargill wire) Mr. Scott Symington, at .present engineer to the Ohristehurch. Tramway Board/ was appointed electrical engineer and manager for Tnvercargill tramways at a salary of £IOOO a year for three years. Mr Symington was selected from among .seventeen applicants.
