Colonel Seely, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, speaking at Henley-on-Thames, denounced any attempt to link the fate o: the Monarchy with that of the House of Lords. He added that the King had the full support of p.IV parties, creeds aiic' races throughout the Empire. The hearing has begun of an election petition against the return of Mr. L. Guest, member for Dorset, on the giounds of bribery, treating and undue influence. The petitioners accuse the Wimborne family of intimidation through gifts in the guise of charity, and charge Lady Wimborne with letting and selling land at absurdly generous prices to secure small holders v'otes.
