STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.
(From Our Resident Correspondent.) Mr. J. R. Stanford returned to Stratford last night after several weeks' holiday. His friends will be pleased to learn that Mr. Stanford is considerably improved in health. Notice of motion has been given for the next meeting of the Borough Council to rescind the resolution authorising the extension of the water mains to the abattoirs.
A hockey match was played between the Eltham and Hawera Ladies' Clubs to-day at Stratford, the visitors being successful. The section which is set aside for the erection of the Public Works Office here is principally gully, and considerable •filling will be required. Estimates of the cost have been forwarded to the head office, and I understand that several other sections, equally suitable as far as position is concerned, and a "h'-at deal more level, have been offered the Department.
