As the present award expires in June a conference of representatives of pastoralists of the various States and of the Australian Workers' Union met to set whether an agreement could be arranged without sepking a fresh award. At the. outset the masters expressed their intention to get n reduc t:on of the whole of the rates. The men as emnhatieallv announced their intention of nskin« for increases in every rate, and there hoins: no prospect of a satisfactory settlement, the conference adjourned sine die. As it will take some time to set a f-esh award, the Workers' Union deeidei[ to work under the obi award, with the stipulation that anv new contracts which should run into the currency of the new award should be siVbjcet to it.
