SPENDING 01' THE '.I'uANTS. • Mr. ,i. B. Iline, M.P.. has received the following reply to a letter sent to the Minister for' t'tiouc Works urging that the road works be proceeded with at once. Whether the ratepayers will •be satisfied with the answer is another thing: Manga Road, vote ' £4oo.—Authority for £IOO has been issued to the District Engineer, and £3OO to the Stratford County Council. Against the latter authority, Ihowever, no exptuduurc has yet been claimed by tli ■ •■_ ouncil. Mangaopa Junction to Mohakau Road, vote £1200.—£950 has already been authorised and practically all expended by the District Engineer, leaving a balance of £249 15s 4d, which was offered for expenditure to the Stratford County Council. * Matau Township to Mangaopa Road, rote £loo.—£so of this has been offered for expenditure to the Stratford County Council and £SO to the Clifton County Council. Matau Township to Tarawai, vote £2oo.—Practically the whole of this amount has already been expended by the District Engineer. Tapuni, vote £250. The whole amount has been authorised to the Whangamomona County Council, but so far no claim for payment has been made by that body. ' Marangae ' Block. Authority for £llsO for the Tangarakau bridge has been issued to the District Engineer, wh'i holds authority for road work within the block, and I have no doubt work is being 'pushed forward as quickly as possible.
Tangarakau Road.—Available balance of vote ( £93 4s) has been offered for expenditure to the Whangamomona County Council. Marco Road.—Available balance of vote ( £133 15s fid) has been offered for expenditure to the Whangamomona ■C'ountv Council. Putikituna Road, vote £500.—£303 has been authorised to and expended ■by the District Engineer; £O3 has been authorised to the Whangamoniona County Council. A further sum of £lu(i l(is (the balance of the vote) was offered for expenditure to the county on oth February, but so far no proposals have been received from 'that body in connection with same. Okara Road, vote £4oo.—£llo .Is lid of this amount has been spent V the District Engineer, and the balance ( £298 18s Id; has .been authorised to the Whangamomona County Council, but 'so far no claim has been made for expenditure. Whangamomona Stream Bridge.— £SO has been offered for expenditure to wie Whangamomona County Council. Whangamomona to Wanganui River.— £1322 14s lid has been authorised and spent by the District Engineer; £327 os Id has been authorised to the Whangamomona County Council, but" as yet no claim has been received for payment. Moki Road.—The only provision made upon last year's appropriations for this road was for work within the Clifton county, to 'whom the available balance of vote has been offered for exoenditure. Mangare Road.—The balance available on this vote (£372 3s lid) was authorised to the District Engineer on 18th February.
