MR MASSEY
I OPPOSITION PLATFORM POPULAR.] By Telegraph —Press Association. | Wellington, Last Night. Mr. W. Massey, the Lei-cier oi the Opposition, returned to Wellington ihis morning from a visit to Central Otago, ■part of -Canterbury and pare of the Grey and Westlaml electorates. Lt was a wonderfully successful trip, he told a reporter, and he met with enthusiastic lcceptions everywhere. "I am quite satisfied with the attitude of the people," lie said. "There is an undoubted change of opinion in favor of the Opposition as against the Government, and on the other hand the people realise that during' the many years we have been working on the Opposition side ot tne House we have done the best possible hi the interests of all classes, and the electors are fully prepared to acknowledge that fact." He had discovered, he added, a far greater interest in politics ii the country than at the same stage of any previous Parliament, chiefly in connection with the land question. The Government was blamed for "backing and filling" on the leasehold and the freehold, and with the general administration, which was regarded as being very unsatisfactory. Mr. Massed added that he had promised to deliver several more addresses in the South Island before the coming session, -but he had not yet fixed any dates. Mr. Massey goes north to-morrow.
