ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A DROWN IXG CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland. Wednesday. The body of a man whose name is believed to lie William McCnlloch, a baker formerly employed on the s.s, Atua, was found in the harbor to-day. It is supposed that deceased got into the water on Monday week last, just after the Maheno sailed for Sydnev. There was a large number of people 011 the wharf, and among others a gentleman and his wife, who stated that they stood aside to let a drunken man pass. Almost immediately after their attention was attracted by a cry of "Man overboard!" They looked round for the intoxicated man, but could not see him. Nobody saw anyone fall into the water, the only thing that caused the alarm being a splash as of a falling body. An exhaustive search was made under the ;wharves, without result. There appears to be little doubt but that the body found to-da'- i< that of the man ,\vho fell into the water on Monday week.
CHILD KILLED BY A TRAM. Auckland, Wednesday. A bov three and a-half years old, son of Mr. William CrookalL was run over by a tram at Grey Lynn opposite his parents' house this morning, and was killed. The conductor states that the child ran across the line in front of the ear and appeared to lie puzzled, stopping between the rails. The brakes were implied. but the boy was knocked down and crushed under the car. When recovered he was quite dead.
FOUND DROWNED. Auckland, Wednesday. The dead bodv of a married man named Matthew Woodward. 47 rears of age, was found in a creek at Henderson. He had been suffering from severe influenza and insomnia.
