THE SHOOTING OF QUIRKE.
OVERTON MAY BE PUT OX' HIS TRIAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The question of taking further proceedings in connection with the shooting of Michael Quirke by Henry Overton during the the Powelka "scare," has been engaging the attention of the Minister of Justice. It is understood that the Sub-Inspec-tor of Police at Palmerston North has been called upon to report fully on the circumstances, and as to whether there is any justification for putting Overton on his trial on a charge of manslaughter.
