STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.

(From Our Resident Correspondent.) . Stratford, Last Night. News was received in Stratford this morning that a laborer named James Feeney was found dead in his bed. Deceased, who was 28 years of age, was employed on the railway works at Pohokura. An inquest is being held. The sneak-thief is on the warpath, and several residents are complaining that with the cold weather their firewood heaps are diminishing with extraordinary rapidity. Nor is firewood the only thing that vanishes, for a resident on the Brookes road found that some "person unknown" had taken advantage of his absence on Saturday to annex his pumpkins. 'Mr. .James C. .Johnston, the Wanganui golf professional, arrived ill Stratford to-day. He will stay for a fortnight coaching local players.
