WELLINGTON ACCIDENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. i Wellington, Monday. \ Archibald Cnrgill, an old man resid-! ing at Lower Hutt, slipped while alighting from a moving train on Saturday night at Lower Hutt station. He feil I between the platform and the carriage, J a wheel passing over one leg. The carriage had to be lifted by a jack before the unfortunate man was released. He was taken to the hospital, where his leg was amputated below the knee. On Saturday night a serious accident befel Mrs. Guthrie, of No. 14, Svdnevstreet. She was passing along Mannersstreet when a taxi cab ran over her. She was conveyed to the hospital, where it is probable she will have to undergo an operation. TWO FATAL ACCIDENTS. Christchiii'ch. Monday.
A verdict of accidental death was returned at the inquest on Edward Robert Hailnam. who was killed in a trap accident at Springfield on Saturday. Hannam had tried to turn too sharply, and the trap had overturned, pinning him beneath. A man named James Adam tiro*? died in the hospital on Saturday as the result of injuries received at Sc-'ir.irill a week ago. He had the presence of mind (o wrap himself in a blanket, or he would have been horribly burned. As it was. his face, head, and hands wore injired.
