It. is officially stated that Katclianik defile is now cleared, and that the iailway is undamaged. Further considerable reinforcements have been dispatched to overawe the Albanians and effect a definite settlewent. ALBANIANS AND TURKS. A GALLANT RUSH. HEAVY CASUALTIES. Received May 3, 1.15 a.m. , Constantinople, May 2. Sheevket Pasha, commander-in-chief in Albania, led an attack in person with 3000 men and three batteries. Sending 4000 on a Hanking movement, lie surprised and surrounded 4000 Albanians in Kaschanik Pass. There was a desperate resistance, and finally the heinmedin Albanians cut their way through the Turks and dispersed in all directions, leaving many dead, wounded, and prisoners. The Turks had only 142 killed and 'wounded, because the principal part of the action fell to t,he artillery.
