AMUSEMENTS.

HEWITT PICTURES. The Hewitt change of programme attracted a good audience last evening. The films "are very entertaining, each subject <leal t with affording instruction and pleasure. The opening picture, "Northern Venice," is one of the best, and graphically illustrates the boat life of that strange city. The ''Two Mr. Whites" is exceedingly funny, and will produce a smile from the most mournful person. A very interesting subject is "Making Sherry in Xeres," and is an education, giving as it does the entire process of wine-making from the growing of the grapes to putting; the wine on the market. A splendid dramatic picture is that entitled "Across the Divide," and shows some interesting phases of life in a goldminer's career. One of the best pictures of the programme is "The Review, of the Troops by Lord Minto." From an educational point of view this film has much to commend it. In' all, a dozen films are screened, and a first-class entertainment is given, excellent music by an efficient orchestra was a feature of the show.
