A peculiar case has occupied the attention of the Courts. A woman named Stuart sued a man named Smith for maintenance. She declared that she married defendant in a theatre during a trance. Defendant denied ever marrying or 'living with Stuart. The case was dismissed. WRECK OF THE ,MALEKULA. Brisbane, April 28. An inquiry into the wreck of t'le Malekula has been opened. The captain attributed the stranding to his chronometer being inaccurate and to iliad steering by the native crew. The Marine Board decided to place on record the STilenrlid behaviour of the captain in bringing n. boat from t.he Malekula, across from Hampton Island.
