He passed Watford at 5.48, flying steadily unu fast at an altitude of 9000 feet. He passed Leightou Buzzard at 0.20, going splendidly. Bletchlev was passed at 0.27, and Wolverton at G. 35, where the altitude was 500 feet. At 0.40 he was over ltoade, Hying along smoothly in favorable weather. Rugby was reaened at 7.21, at an altitude of 000 feet. He descended safely at Lichfield at 0.10 a.m. W-hite started from London at 0.33 p.m. and was frantically cheered by 20,000 people. He passed Watford at 6.50 at. a height of 200 leer, travelling steadily with a brisk wind behind him. At 7.20 lie was over Leighton Blizzard and at 7.37 over Bletchley. He was now flying higher than Paulhan and faster and straighter. At 7.45 he passed Wolverton, and at 7.55 he alighted a mile southward of Roade, having accomplished this stage in 1 hour 22 minutes, against Paulhan's 1 hour 20 minutes to ine same point. .
London, Later. The flights were suspended owing to the darkness. A PLUCKY FLIER. RIVAL STEALS A MARCH. Received April 28, 11.25 p.m. London, April 28. White descended in difficulties at Polesworth. Paulhan passed Stafford at 4.40 and reached Manchester at 5:30. White had abandoned the idea ol a flight owing to the high and gusty wind. When he learned by telephone that Paulhan had stolen a march on him White, hastily and foodless, foilowecl at the earliest moment. His daring in entering the competition thus handicapped was loudly cheered. Meanwhile Paulhan had a long lead. White was unable to make great progress before darkness set in. Paulhan again started at 4 o'clock.
