In the case in which Caroline Buckman was charged with the murder of her husband on January 23, the evi lence disclosed that accused was subject*! to illusage, and a verdict of justin ,i*)le homicide was returned. [Mrs. Buckman, wife of a farmer living near iNarrabri, gave herself up to the police, after stating that sha had shot her husband dead. It was supposed that the latter struck her v'tti a stick, and that she then resorted to the use of firearms in self-defence.]
