A BLOW TO ENGLISH MANUFACTURERS. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, April 25. Several questions are being asked in the House of Commons regarding the Japanese tariff, which the Diet is considering. It comes into operation in July, 1911. Textile manufacturers consider an average of two and a-half to threefold above the present rates is prohibitive against many Lancashire and Yorkshire articles. Replying on the subject, Mr. McKinnon Wood stated that the Board of Trade was consulting Chambers of Commerce.
