ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDKR. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Saturday. At the Police Court, Henry James Hansen, charged with attempting to murder his son at Ngnnguru. was remanded to appear at Whangarei on 2tith April. Accused's solicitor slated the injured son was out of danger, lie asked for bail. The police opposed, ir-srng that the assault was of a murderous character, without any suggestion of drink. The application was not pressed.
WIFE-BEATER SENTENCED. Dannevirke, Saturday. At the Police Court this morning, before Mr. McCarthy, S.M., a man named John Crosland was sentenced to six months' hard labor for strikinsj his wife with an iron poker.
