THE KENT ISLAND FIRE. By Cable—Press Association— Copyright. Hobart, April 18. The fire on Kent Island is still burning, but is under control. FATALITY ON A RACECOURSE. Adelaide. April 18. Five horses fell in the Trial Stakes at Morphetville. A jockey named Sutherland was fatally injured, and two horses, Steeltrap and Sonata, were killed. TYPHOID OUTBREAK. Melbourne. April 18. _ There is an epidemic of typhoid in one of the suburbs. There are twentynine cases in one milk round. MELBOURNE TIMBER TRADE. Melbourne, April I'S. The Wharf Laborers' Union has' resolved to notify shipowners that no timber will be handled for export from today, but it states that inter-State vessel's which had arrived up to Saturday will be discharged. PERICLES SALVAGE. Perth, April 18. The steamer Una picked nn eighteen boxes of butter from the Pericles. The bulk of it was in good condition.
