SCHOONER MALUKULA
WRECKED ON A REEF. NATIVE CREW MAROONED. Bf flftble—Press Association— Received April 18, 11.55 p.m. Sydney, April 18. ■Messrs. Lever Brothers have been ad-j vised that their schooner Malukula,! which i 9 a couple of months overdue, from the Solomon Islands to Sydney, was' wrecked on the Bampton reef, Chesterfield group. Captain McPhail and two European officers of the Malukula arrived at Lucinda Point, Queensland, in the ship's boat. They report that the schooner was wrecked on January 9, and that the crew, which consisted of seventeen natives, were left at the island, in the vicinity of the wreck, with plenty of food and with no fear of starving. Arrangements have been made with the steamer Upolu to pick up the castaways on her next trip.
