Lord Kitchener makea nr secret that the Malta command is unnecessary, and was only created to shelve him. His 1 colonial investigations have made Lord Kitchener anxious to ■weld the forces of Great Britain afid her pendencies, and to cong!omert'.e the whole, wherefore he is desirous oi remaining in Lon lon at the head of tit Imperial Defence Committee. It is expected that Lord Kitchener ■will inform Mr. Asquith that he vv'ii resign unless he is allowed to carry through his Army of Empire scheme.
