Nine thousand, five hundred emigrants sailed from the Clyde in three weeks. Tradesmen mostly went to the United States and agriculturists mostly to Canada.
The Salvationists sent seventy-five Londoners to Canada in a fortnight, with £30,000, some taking £IOOO and £2OOO apiece.
