The Supreme Court of Tennessee confirmed the twenty years' sentence on Colonel Cooper, imposed in March, 1909, and granted Robin Cooper a. retrial. The Governor thereupon pardoned Colonel Cooper. [Cooper and his son Robin were found guilty of murdering Senator Garmack, at Nashville, Tennessee, but were released on £SOOO bail. Edward W. Carmack, United States Senator from 1901 to 1907, was killed at Nashville on December 9 by Robin J. Cooper, the son of Duncan B. Cooper. Mr. Carmack was greeting a lady when Cooper and his son approached. Three bullets were found in Carmack's body.]
