ABOLITION ADVOCATED BY PROHIBITIONISTS. By Telegraph —Press Association. Christchurch, Lust J\ignt. The locker system was' discussed a\ a meeting convened by the No-License party. The proceedings at times were somewhat lively. The speakers were Mr T. Taylor, M.P., Rev. L. M. Isitt and Messrs Avery and Manning. The last mentioned alleged that Mr Avery was expelled from the Sydenham Working Man's Club for reasons other than any connected with the locker system.

On the motion of Mr Taylor, seconded by Rev. Isitt, it was resolved: "That this meeting desires t> call the attention of the Government to abuses existing in connection with the sale of intoxicants at the Sydenham Working Men's Club, as alleged in the public statement of Mr Avery, a recent member of the Club. The committee urges an immediate investigation of the matter by a iStipendiary Magistrate, with a view to the charter of the club being cancelled and the locker system abolished.
