PRISONERS SENTENCED.

B J Telegraph.—Presw Association. AYellington, April 9,

Three prisoners were sentenced by the Chief Justice to-day. Charles Johnston, on a charge of theft of a cart at Otaki, received six months' imprisonment: James O'Brien, alias M'Carthy, theft from a dwelling, nine months'; Elizabeth Ward, breaking and entering, three years'. Ward lias Iseen previously convicted eleven time* for drunkenness, twelve times for theft, and once for being a rogue and vagabond.
