FALL IX COTTON.

Owing to a break in the drought in ATexas the cotton market in New York has fallen a halfpenny per lb.

LONDON MARKETS.

London, April 6. Copper—Forward delivery, -£59 2s Bd. Tin—Spot £149 ss, three months £l5O 7s 6d.

Wheat—An Australian cargo sold at 395. The American visible supply of wheat is 55,289,000 quarters.

At the tallow sales 939 casks were offered and 870 sold at Is to Is 6d advvance, with a strong market.

WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT.

Poultry—At the mart on Saturday we had a good entry of poultry and prices were satisfactory, as under:—Hens, Is 8d to Is 10d, good young 2s to 2g 2d, pullets (backward) Is lOd to 2s 4d, good 2s 3d to 2s 6d, cockerels Is lOd to 2s sd. Meat—The usual lot of meat came forward and was again of very choice quality. Bidding was keen and many present could not obtain their requirements. As the colder weather is now letting in larger lots may be looked for. Prices on Saturday were as under:— Prime ribs 3d to 3y 2 d, becond do. 2d to 2yod, sirloin 3d to 4d. rounds 3d to 4d, forward roasts 2d to 2'/ 2 d, corning piece* iy 2 d to 2%d; mutton, fores 2>/ s d to 3y 2 d, legs 3y 2 d to 4y 2 d, loins 3d to 3y 2 d. Produce —We sold by auction a line of good local wheat at 3s 5d to 3s 7d; sur-face-sowing cocksfoot 3d to 4y z d. Fruit —The local supply has now coniiderably decreased, and mainly peafrs, apples and grapes are coming forward. Island oranges and bananas' are growing in demand. Apples, prime, red variety, dessert, 8s to 6s 6d, seconds 4» Od to 5s 6d, cookers 4s to 4s 6d; pears, prime 8s 6d to 9* 9d, seconds 6s to 7s 9d, cookers 4s 9d to 5s 3d, grapes (hothouse), lid per lb; peanuts, 7d lb; quinces, Id per lb; oranges, re-packed, 10s 9d to lis 6d; bananas, green 10s 9d to lis 6d, ripe 2d to 2y 2 d per 11).

L. A. NOLAN & CO.'S REPORT.

Messrs L. A. Nolan and Co. report for the week ending 6th April, 1910: Poultry—On Saturday we had a large fentry. All classes met with good competition and price* were satisfactory. Fat ducks are selling well. Hens, ordinary, Is 5d to Is lOd, fat la 9d to 2s 4d, pullets 2s Id to 2s 4d, cockerels to 2s 3d (according to size), roostt.rs Is to 2s, ducks Is 9d to 2s 2d, turkey hens 3s to 6b.

Fruit—-Supplies of stone fruits are now finished. Pears and apples are eoming to hand in large consignments and finding a steady mark at. Apples, bushel cases, 4s 6d to 7s 6d, half-oases 2s 6d to 4s 3d, pears (small cases) 4s 3d to 5s 3d, bushels to 8s 9d, bananas Ss 6d to lis fid. On Friday we held a furniture sale on account of Mr. Crisp, Devon street. There was a large attendance of buyers and all lines realised satisfactory prices. At the Rev. Warner's sale on Monday the attendance was good and prices were to the vendors' satisfaction. NEW PLYMOUTH RETAIL PRICES.

Butchers' Meat. Beef: Sirloin 6d, prime ribs sd, rump steak Bd, beef from Bd to 4d, corned beef from 3d to 5a per lb. Mutton: Logs 6d, chops 6d, Join fid, shoulders sd, neck* 4d per lb. Pork: Fresh, 6d per lb. Veal, 3d to 5d par lb. Sausages, beef 4d, pork Od. Lamb, 4s to 5s a quarter. Fowls, 5s per pair, ducks 6s per pair. These prices are for cash only; y 2 d per lb for booking over one week.

General Groceries. —Following are the eash prices charged by New Plymouth grocers:—Sugars, No. la 10s 3d, No. t 10s, Kerosene 9s (3d per case. Koll«d oats and oatina, lOd per bag; oatmeal, 3s3dper2slbbag; flour, roller, 1001b 13s. 501b 6s' 9d, 251b 3s Bd.

Dairy Produce, etc.—Butter factory Is Id, dairy lOd, best separator Is per lb; cheese, 9d per lb; eggs, Is 8d per dozen; lard. 9d per lb; bacon, lOd per lb; hams, By s d per lb, rashers lOd; milk, 3d per quart. Frlit—Bananas, 3d lb or 51bs for Is. lemons Is to Is Od per dozen, apples 3d to 4d lb, eocoanuts 2d to 4d, walnuts 8d lb, dried figs 4d and 6d per box, grapes Is to Is 6d per lb, peaches 4d and Gd per lb, pears 4d to 8d per lb, oranges Is 6d per dozen, water melons 2d per lb, quinces 81bs for Is. Vegetables.—Cabbages 3d to 4d, carrots 2d, turnips 2d, parsnips 2d per bunch, rhubarb 4d per bundle, potatoes 6s 6d per cwt., kumeraa 51bs for Is, onions 101b for Is.
