HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.
A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The New Plymouth High Sc&ool sports gathering was held in the school grounds yesterday. There was a lain attendance of spectators, considering that the meeting had to be postponed from last week on account of the weather. During the course of the after* noon the new science room was formally opened by the chairman of the Board <J iGoMersuois, Mr M. Eraser, and by Mr Percy Smith, another member of the Board. Both speakers' referred to the valuable acquisition to the school bj the new departure, and to the ever increasing importance of science, which! now entered into almost all works of modern life. After the end of the racing the prize.-* were presented to the winners by Mrs' Eraser. Cheers fot iibfl Board and the visitors ended a very successful afternoon. The Old Boys' Challenge Cup was won by L. Stohr, the Quarter-mile School Championship by, F Clarke, and the cup for the highest number of points by F. Clarke also.
