STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.
(From Our Resident Correspondent.) Stratford, April 5. Mr J. 11 Campbell, who has been away on holiday leave, resumed his duties at the local station this morning. Mrs F. Miners, of Reporua, was admitted to the local hospital to-day suffering from rheumatic fever. An experiment was recently carried out at the Stratford School to show the values respectively of rape and kale as feed. They, were sown together and lambs turned in. The rape is fed right down, whilst the kale is practically untouched. The public are beginning to take an interest i n the Mayoral election, and the chances of the respective candidates •are 'being discussed. At present it is far too early to have any idea who will be the favourite, but it'is certain that many important questions affecting the welfare of the town will be threshed out, and it is to be hoped that the interest taken by the ratepayers will be sustained after the election.
