HOCKEY.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. .There was only a fair attendance of members at the annual meeting of the New Plymouth Hockey Club last night. Mr. W. Wood presided. The report, which was adopted, showed that the playing of two teams last season stimulated the game locally, and that it would be in the interests of the game if another club were formed. The club has refunded the £lO 10s Mr. F. W. Fagan advanced to purchase a dressing-shed. Mr. Fagan is thanked for a donation of £5 5s to purchase a shield for competition when two clubs are formed. It is suggested that a small levy be made on members, to be used as travelling expenses for the representative team that will try to wrest the Challenge Shield from Wellington. Cordial thanks are tendered to Dr. Fookes, president. The balance-sheet showed receipts £2l 14s Id, expenditure £lO lis 6d, leaving a credit balance of £5 2s 7d. Officers were elected as President, Dr. Fookes; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. W. Govett, T. Avery, F. Fagan, W. G. Ma lone. V. H. Ileal', and S.Smith; auditor, Mr! H. Stoeker; delegate to Association, Mr. V. H. Beal. The matter of election of secretary was left over till a further meeting, Mr. E. Avery, the former secretary, being unable to continue the duties. It was also decided to-leave the selection of committees over. The subscription was fixed at 6s for the season, one shilling of the amount to be earmarked for a fund to provide the expenses of a travelling representative team should the Association decide to make a levy over all clubs. Should the Association not take up the matter, the shilling to go towards the funds of the club. It was decided to convey the thank.-, of the club to the Taranaki Jockey Club for the use of their ground, and to ask for the use of the racecourse for the coming season. It was decided to open the season on the 21st instant. It was agreed to take steps to raise funds during the season to improve the ground. Votes of thanks to the retiring secretary, the Press, and the chairman concluded the meeting.

CARRINGTON ROAD CLUB. The annual meeting of the Oarriagton Road Hockey Club wa» held in ttie Town Hall on Monday night and was* well attended. Mr F. Claphara was elected chairman. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. "The past season has been a fairly iuoce«yful one for a country club with a limited number of members," said the report, "as. 1 out of eight matches played our club was successful on eix occasions, losing only twice. In the Semifinal with New Plymouth the teams were 2 all at the call of time. It was decided to play two further spells of ten minutes each, resulting in New Plymouth scoring two more goals to our one. During the season Carrington road scored 37 goals to 20 against." The following officers' were elected:— President, Mr H. W. Ssxton; vice-presi-dent, Mr Laurent; captain, Mr F. Clapham; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr A. W. M'Ewen: auditor, Mr W. If. Peulmm; committee, Messrs N. Perrv, A. Marett, Goo. Hudson, G. Bruce, H. M'Ewan; selection committee, Messrs W. Perhamj 0. Jordan, F. Clapham. The subscription was fixed at 2s fid. The opening practice was fixed for Thursday, April 14, at 2.30 p.m. A vote of thanks to Mr Saxton for the use of grounds' was passed, and the meeting closed with the usual compliment to the chairman.
