CO-PARTNERSHIP EXPERIMENT
OBJECTION. TO '■■'SPEEDING-UP/' A PECULIAR ARGUMENT. 'iv Cable.—Press Association.—Cov.v right London, April 4. The Hartlepool co-partnership malcontents complain that employment is not continuous. They also dislike the American system of "speeding-up/' which they declare is duo to some workers desiring to obtain the best results from the co-partnership. Mr. Steadman, ex-Labor M.P. for Finsbury Central, contends that copartnership weakens the power of bargaining. The working men's strength lies irT unity, which the co-partnership scheme aims to destroy. Sir Christopher Furness, in response to an appeal, is considering the .possibility of continuing the co-partnership with the employes for another year. He thinks the deduction from wages towards the cost of shares might be made optional during pefipds when work is irregular.
