INGLEWOOD FATALITY.

CORONER'S INQUEST. An inquest was held at the Courthouse, New Plymouth, on Saturday, before the Acting-Coroner, Dr. MeCleland, and a jury, into the circumstances surrounding the death of William Anderson, thirty-six years of age, who died in the New Plymouth Hospital on Friday. William Edward Percival gave evidence of identification. Deceas'ed had been carrying on business in Inglewood as a butcher. He was a married mail with a wife and family. On Wednesday morning, about 0 o'clock, as witness was leaving the station to get to his office he saw Anderson on his cart. Some portion of the harness had given way, and the shafts' were hanging down. The horse commenced to play up, and getting more restive, deceased jumped from the vehicle. He fell to ths ground, and witness went across to ms' assistance, and found he had broken a leg. Dr Gault was called, and under his direction deceased was' lifted on to a stretcher and removed to his home a little higher up the street. Dr Walker stated that deceased was admitted to the New Plymouth Hos'■pital on Wednesday afternoon. Witness described the nature of the injuries, which were dressed in the usual way. Anderson was obviously very ill, and showed much nerve tremor. 'ls condition became worse, and during Thursday night he developed violent delirium, and his temperature rose very high. All efforts to revive him were unavailing, and death ensued on : 1day morning. -Witness had made a post mortem examination, which ] ( ad revealed organic trouble-. The cause of death was exhaustion, following upon violent delirium and the high temperature eaii.-ed by fracture of the leg, and predisposing causes i n the internal organs. Tn the case of a healthy man the fracture would not have been severe enough to cause death. The jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
