THE SOUTH WALES MINING DISPUTE. WORK SUSPENDED. f By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, April 1. Several collieries at Aberdare have suspended work pending a settlement of the dispute. Meetings attended by thousands of men have passed resolutions demanding the resignation of the leaders. The situation at Cardiff and Merthyr is reassuring.
SUBSTANTIAL RISE IN WAGES. New York, April 1. The Steel Trust is raising the wages of 225,000 employees 6 per cent. It is estimated that before the same movement in other directions' ends the rise in American workers 1 wages over 1909 will aggregate £100,000.000 annually.
COALMINERS GO OUT. Washington, April 1. Three hundred thousand bituminous coalminers have struck at Indianapolis, pending the ratification of the agreement providing the advance in wages.
